Capital One • No-fee overdraft

CONCEPT
Overdraft fees keep people living on the edge of financial ruin while banks make billions upon billions of dollars.

78% of overdrafts are done intentionally as a last resort.

SOLUTION
By continuing to offer the function of overdraft, at no cost, we can help prevent the most vulnerable people from falling into financial ruin.

OUTCOMES
Utilization increased
Time negative decreased
Account charge-offs decreased

MY ROLE
Led design from concepting, to MVP launch, and through feature updates and redesign for two years

“Bank overdraft fees snatch billions from struggling families & even during this pandemic, big banks raked in billions from this abusive practice. This is a good move by Capital One. Big banks like JP Morgan should do the same”

– Elizabeth Warren, US Senator

coolstuff.nyc • Digital rebrand + Web redesign

CONCEPT
In its first three years, coolstuff.nyc grew from 14 subscribers to 14,000. I took on the project of building a new digital brand identity and designing a scalable, mobile-friendly CMS website built to last.

SOLUTION
The previous branding for coolstuff.nyc was outdated, but somehow retained a certain staying power. There was a strength to being bold and colorful, and with the updated branding package I took a measured approach to the fun.

Our publication outgrew our simple website, and needed to expand into a thoughtfully designed template connected to a CMS manager.

Top of mind was injecting the brand identity into the digital experience while still retaining a high level of scannability. These principles placed a strong emphasis on hierarchy throughout the desktop and mobile versions of the website.
